Another Hot Day

Here's a nice picture of Helen and Emma asleep together in the morning.

Today's been one of the hottest July days on record - up to 37 degrees apparently. We've both had the day off but haven't done much. Just a trip to Focus to buy some pot plants and lots of wine making antics for David. The rhubarb and dandelion wines are all bottled now, and the plum and blackcurrant are all bubbling away in demi-johns instead of buckets which means they take up a lot less space.

This is a picture of Emma crying in Helen's arms. Helen's holding a thermometer that's reading 27 celsius. I think it got even hotter inside later in the day.

Emma's had a good day except for a rather inconsolable cry over lunch time, but I think we were all due a siesta by then. Helen had a nice few hours sleep in the afternoon, as did Emma in the garden.

In the evening, Rob and Bex invited us over for an impromptu barbeque which was really pleasant. We had a good chinwag and ate well. We'd left Emma's change bag at home, but were very fortunate as she didn't need a nappy change and we borrowed a "vibrant" green Ikea blanket from our gracious hosts to keep her warm. After such a hot day, it turned surprisingly chilly in the evening and even threatened to rain at one point.
