A Trip to Porthcawl

We had a really good day on Monday. A slow start in the morning (which we like!) I took Emma downstairs for a play at 7am. We set off for Clifton at 11.30am. Helen had seen a necklace that she liked whilst out with Leila at the start of this year, so we went back to see it again with a view to me getting it for her birthday. Of course, that one had sold, and one like it, and the only similar ones were coloured a bit too glitzy and garish for Helen's liking.

We ended up eating in
Zizzi on Princess Victoria Street. I had pasta with crayfish and Helen had a marinated chicken sausage on a bed of saucy rice. The service was excellent and the food arrived very quickly and was very tasty. Emma slept throughout, then woke just as we were finishing, so Helen fed her on one of their sofas whilst sipping coffee.

In the afternoon, Helen headed off with Emma to spend the afternoon with Becky Barnes, a fellow Occupational Therapist who is close to the full 9 months with her pregnancy. They walked around Portishead lakes, and once again, Emma was well behaved. Helen dropped in on Becky and Rob so Emma could have a cuddle and some admiration. Their kitten, Mrs Fenchurch, is extremely playful now and has lost her fear that she had for about a week after they got her. Helen drove her crazy by rubbing the sofa with her fingernails. Uncle Rob held Emma and she dropped off into a deep sleep. Helen got back at 7.30 and Emma went straight to bed. We had a mixture of things from the fridge and watched television.

On Tuesday, I got up at 6.45am because Emma was awake. We played for a while downstairs, then she seemed hungry so I took her upstairs. Poor Helen had been up with her quite a bit in the night, and it took her a while to wake up for a feed. I went off to work at 8.30am.

Helen was picked up by Leila as four generations of ladies were off to Porthcawl to the beach. They picked a lovely day to go. Connie, Emma's great grandmother was brought up around there and loves to visit. Emma was good as gold and even dipped her toes in the sea at one point, although she didn't react to it much as she was pre-occupied by being hungry. Once we walked back to our patch Emma was fully vocalising her hunger!!. In the evening, we had soup made up from Sunday's left overs, and watched television. We have sadly become addicted to Big Brother. Last night four already evicted contestants were voted back into the "house next door" One of them will be chosen to go back into the main house. What excitements....
