Becky and Rob tie the knot.

The Third of August 2007 was a very special day. Emma's Auntie Becky and Uncle Rob got married in Clevedon's St. Andrew's church. Here is a collection of photos that Robin put together telling the story of the day.

The first ones were taken in Rob and Leila's conservatory where the ladies had breakfast then brought out the magnifying mirrors to get the make up just right.

These were taken at 'The Basement' hair salon on Hill Road in Clevedon where Becky and her bridesmaids were coiffured.

Helen decided against the back-combed barnet look for the wedding...

Becky & Rob hired a very funky wedding car, a cream soft top Morris 1000 - what a ride!!!!
Here is Becky being a foxy bride.

We all wanted a piece of the Morris 1000, so the ladies congregated outside for some snaps, and were then whisked off to St Andrews Church for the wedding of the year!!

The days weather was absolutely splendid - beaming sunshine & blue skies. It looks as if their attendance at the church services has paid off!!

Here they are in church taking their vows. Emma has her say, with a big 'hiya' when the vicar asked if the congregation would support the lovely couple in their marriage!

We were very impressed to see Emma reading the Order of Service so dilligently, but we smelt a rat when we saw it was the wrong way up!

Here are the brand new Mr & Mrs Armstrong triumphantly leaving the church.

The flowers looked wonderful inside the church and as bouquets. Judith Locke, the florist in Clevedon arranged these with a huge help from Nanna. The girls were in the church until about 11pm the night before the wedding to make it look 100% fabulous!

Above right is Dad, Mum, Mr & Mrs Armstrong, Liz Armstrong (mother of the groom) and her brother Chris.

Above are Helen, Emma, the lovely couple & Becky Vandeburgh.

Above is Mum looking like a foxy lady! Take note of the lovely dress - its twin appears later in the day on Sue Poole!!

Next are some pictures that Martin (Emma's grandad) took after the service. He captured both great grandmothers looking happy.

The bridesmaids top right, posing as 1920's flapper girls!

Was Becky happy to be a married lady? You bet!! They went for a brief tour of Clevedon in the 'Moggy' - they are at the Clevedon Sea Front (below right). They then moved on to the wedding breakfast at the Plantation Lakes - a great wedding venue in Kingston Seymour.

The theme for the wedding was sunflowers.

Pictured above is a photo of Helen, Becky, Rob and Nanna outside the main entrance, and Nanna enjoying the wedding breakfast..

Emma loves cuddles with her Uncle Rob, but always seems to go for his eyes and nose. In the third photo she looks a little worse for wear. Too much champagne and sniffing party poppers I suspect.

Although the evening clouds were grey and black, the sun still shone on the reception. Most of the guests spent the time after the wedding breakfast outside enjoying the bouncy castle and the warmth. Becky is seen modelling some wellies after a trip down to the lake for some photos.

It was heart warming to see Rob's sister Kate with her boyfriend Michael looking so happy.

An ex-band mate of Rob's called Julian tried to catch some Zzz's on the bouncy castle. He said he enjoyed it when people jumped on it although it made his middle bounce up and down.

"Yo" the magician entertained Rob and Chris, children of Brendon and Jill, Leila's cousin. Robin captured some great pictures of Helen and Emma on the bouncy castle. The shutter is so quick that Helen looks like she's floating.

Leila and Sue realised a few days before the wedding that they had bought the same dress. Sue nobly wore a different one in the day, then changed in the evening when Leila changed her dress, but they had some fun parading around in a 15 minute overlap.

Gotta love the picture of Helen seemingly about to squash Emma like a bug.

And the picture that makes Becky look like a helium balloon!

Emma's new walking skill faced a tough challenge when she tried to walk on the bouncy castle. She did very well though.

She enjoyed splashing in the kitchen sink of the fishing accommodation we stayed in. It was an unusual bath, but lots of fun!

The sunflower decked wedding cake was delicious as well as pretty. Lucy, the proprieter was a little nervous about cutting it up!

Here are some pictures from the reception.

In the evening there was an extraordinary barbeque. They had the normal burgers, sausages and bacon, and then also ostrich steak, alligator steak and kangaroo meat. The dessert was a freezer full of Marshfield Farm ice creams. MMMMmmmmm....

In the evening, Becky changed into her red dress and Leila changed into her Rock Chick mode. The sailing club band, Waveband, who Leila plays bass for, played a great set that got everyone dancing. Becky guest sang "Play That Funky Music" and impressed everyone with a fearless and awesome performance.

The lovely couple set off the following monday on a ferry to France in Uncle Jon & Auntie Shirley's camper van. They are off for three weeks to tour as much of the continent as they can.

We know they will, but nevertheless wish them a long, happy, crazy, besotted life together as Mr & Mrs Armstrong!
