Paintballing

On Saturday we headed off to Wallmead for the weekend. It was Pete's 40th birthday on the Sunday and we'd booked paintballing in Nomansland which is on the edge of the New Forest, very close to where I was born. Here are some pictures of Emma before we set off, and the car after we'd loaded it full of Emma's paraphernalia.

We arrived to a delicious meal of lamb cooked by mum, then Helen set about making a birthday cake for Pete. Here is the decoration of it, step by step, Blue Peter style! Don't look too closely at the expiry date on the food colouring lid!

There were 8 adults and 4 children to breakfast on Sunday and Mum cooked bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and croissants for us. We headed off about 30 minutes late and arrived at the paintballing on the dot of noon, which was in theory the latest we could arrive. We then had to wait around about 30 minutes for our first game! The organisers provided overalls for us although Jasper wore his father's army clothes with the insignia of a Major on the shoulder.

Here is John after I shot him in the leg during the first warm up game. It was the only one that the team I was in won!

In the second game we had to storm a wooden boat that the other team were guarding. It proved too challenging for us and we ran out of time. Every time we came out from behing the cover, we'd get shot at. We should have used the bushes! The smoke you can see is a smoke bomb that John bought us from the organisers. They didn't provide much cover but looked cool!

In the last scenario the battlefield was larger and had lots of huts. John found four children who we playing with in a hut and shot them all at point blank range which really hurts! The kids were there to celebrate a friend's 13th birthday.

Once that game had finished, we went to the last game in which we were to finish off any unused ammo in an every man for himself game. Jasper was very good at this and kept appearing and forcing people to surrender. When he appeared where Claudia was hiding and asked for her surrender, she turned around at shot him over and over. He dropped his gun and fell over, but still she continued. Eventually the steward pulled her off. She was quite embarrassed about this later. Jasper cut his hand during the altercation and smeared his face with blood when he pulled his mask off. It made quite a sight, I wish I took a photo! Here are some photos of Claudia with Jasper behind in his flat cap.

After the paintballing we met with Mum, Helen and Helen who'd taken the 6 children to an otter and badger sanctuary. Also at the pub were Granny B, Dave and Angela, and Sam, Louise and their new baby, Roxanna.

It was a pretty sunset over the pool by the Alice Lisle.

Afterwards I drove all the way home to Clevedon as I had to work Monday and Tuesday. Helen stayed at Wallmead with Mum and Dad. She found it a very pleasant time, and Emma enjoyed being with her Grandparents.

What a lovely blog!! Dave, is your grandmother a very small lady or is Emma getting to be a very big baby? Paintballing looks very macho - bet you boiled in the outfits!! Granny Shallcross looked in her element - that's the wonder of Wallmead! (and Emma) Lots of love M-i-L/Mum/Gramma
