Diet week

Sorry I haven't posted for 5 days. We've got a few visits to report on, and should have lots more after this weekend. We're just about to head off to Tisbury to celebrate my brother, Pete's 40th Birthday party with game of Paintball in Nomansland tomorrow.

As you can see from today's blog title, we've been on a diet this week. I've slowly put on 6 pounds since finishing my diet in February, and want to get rid of them. Helen wants to lose some of her extra pregnancy weight that has stayed. So no alcohol during the week for me, and we're watching what we eat. Perhaps I'll get round to cycling at some point... All was going well until Thursday, so don't mention the celebratory fish, chips and wine we had to toast Rob & Leila's homecoming!

Tigger's finished his antibiotics now and his wound looks a lot better. We didn't bother to take him to the follow up at the vets.

On Tuesday, Helen Laws, Helen's friend from University visited with her son Alex. Alex is a few months older than Emma and just starting to go onto solids and crawling. Emma has just started being able to turn onto her side. Alex enjoyed the activity mat and gave it a really good shake with his legs!

On Tuesday evening we visited Jim and Emma in Stroud as they had Holly and Olly, friends from when we all at Nottingham Uni together. They got engaged in May and are getting married next year, but are based in Australia now, probably for good. It was good to catch up with them.

Jim showed us his impressive collection of Chocapic. It is a cereal that you can get in France, but not in England, so when his parents go over with the car, they come back stocked to the ceiling with the stuff. Holly was a natural with Emma and they cooed at each other happily until Emma got tired after 8pm and then went to sleep quite quickly after a little cry.

Here we are getting ready to go. Wednesday was time for Emma's second set of innoculations. We went to the cinema before hand as it was the Cinema and Baby club at the Curzon. There were only 4 babies there with their mums. The film was Nacho Libre with Jack Black. It was quite funny, nothing to write home about though. Emma was very good, awake through most of it, but happy to be cuddled and to watch the film!

The vaccination went smoothly, we were there 15 minutes early which was just as well as there must have been 15 mums who turned up soon after us. We were lucky to be seen first. Emma cried but was then due a feed straight after which quietened her down again. That evening she was difficult to settle, so we gave her some paracetamol which did the trick almost straight away.

On Thursday, Helen met her parents at the airport as they came back from Mallorca. Leila and Ron were very pleased to see Emma again and thought she had grown in the week they'd been away.

Doh! Lovely weekend thank you. A bit bruised and achy today... Next blog update will have to wait until Wednesday as Helen has the camera, hopefully filling it up with cute pictures. It'd be a shame to edit Ron out of the last post, so he can stay to amuse! Dave
