First (Assisted) Steps!

This week, Emma has started walking - with a little help from her friends! She has been able to stand holding onto someone's hands for over a month, but now she can put one foot in front of the other if she has some support.

Here she is today enjoying her barnacle boat. It was the first time she's been able to reach all the dangling fish. It kept her amused for some time.

On Wednesday, the three of us headed into Bristol for a walk and some shopping. We ate at Wagamama on the Clifton Triangle. Emma was happy and lively throughout. She mauled my placemat!

We had some icecream and coffee at a pub in the docks area.

Emma continues to enjoy some semisolid food. She's having two small bowls of powdered cereal or rice with milk every day. Helen mixes in fruit and nutmeg to make it taste nice. We've noticed improvements in her sleep. She slept from 6pm until 11pm, then 11.30pm until 6am on Thursday night. That was quite exceptional though, often she wakes around 3am for a feed.

Last night we went to Birmingham to meet with Helen & Steve Smith, John Edwards, John, Rowan and Maddie Bell and Jane Halliday for an impromptu get together. There was lots of pass the parcel with the babies and we went to a very swanky gastro pub at Helen & Steve's recommendation. Emma was very sick on the way unfortunately thanks to some rice I'd fed her moments before, but she scrubbed up OK!

Today Helen and I had a grilled breakfast then set off for a long walk around Clevedon, ending up in the Moon and Sixpence pub. The tide was particularly low today, exposing mud flats and sandbanks that are normally deep underwater. The pier was on dry(ish) land!
